Well my humble bear loving blog readers, I do have to say that this time of year does bring out some strange people and some of those are those annoying Carol Singers that seem to think that they know what they are singing, but really they haven’t a clue!
Carol Singers! Festive Spirit Or In It For The Dosh?
Now before you all start standing up and saying, “Oh come on Mr Bear, there is no need to moan about those wonderful Carol Singers this time of year“.

I’m not having a moan, well I am a little, I’m talking about those so-called Carol Singers that go from door to door, you know the ones, standing in front of you and singing either one line (because that’s all they know) or even worse getting the words wrong!
Only last night there was a knock at the door and there in front of me was four spotty teenagers, eyes gleaming with the thought of a making money at Christmas. Then, they began to sing!
Now Hang On! Don’t You Know It All!
So they started to sing, well when I say sing it was more like a cat that was caught in the end of a swing ball set!
- “We three kings of Orient are, mmm, mmmm, mmmmm” – Nope!
- “We wish you a Happy Christmas and Merry New Year” – And the rest please, with the right words!
- “While farmers watch their fields by night” – Oh come on now that’s not even close!
Suffice to say, they had the cheek to say, “Tip”, which is an odd thing to say, so it was like a red rag to a bull for my human-owner and the response from her was:
“A Tip! Ok. First learn the words, secondly, one line really isn’t Carol Singing is it, come on if someone knocked on your door would you pay them for a shambolic, squealing nightmare, I think not. I’m sorry you don’t have the X-mas factor and you are the weakest link, good-bye”
I’ve never seen anyone so speechless and with a look of bewilderment on their faces which I’ve never seen in my life. Then they looked down at me and I said “GGGrrrrrrr”.
That was it, they turned walking down the drive mumbling about how one had thought it was a stupid idea anyway and another saying that they would have been better staying in and playing on their Playstation. Which I do have to agree on

It depends on the age. When i was 5 me and some friends used to go singing, just for the fun of it. But as we started growing up we started to expect money in return, which is not in the Christmas spirit at all.
We did, however, learn our songs, so we kind of worked for those money.
At least you took the time to learn your songs, the ones that called by the other night hadn’t got a clue!

Ah… so beautiful! Carols are the voice of holidays’ spirit. It’s so relaxing, warm, pleasant to listen to carols, and way better to sing along. It brings magic into your life and makes you smile and feel like living, not only existing. Thanks for sharing!
Yes Carols are beautiful, unless as I mentioned in this post, they are sung wrong or the singers just haven’t got a clue!!!
